Cologne in the 70s & 80s
Travelling back in time - Cologne in the 70s & 80s
There was once a time in which people didn’t have a smartphone always at the ready to take pictures of anything at any time. Cameras used film that had to be developed, and people had to endure the anticipation of waiting hours or even days to see their pictures. A photo exhibit in Cologne harkens back to this era, depicting images beyond the glamour and glitter of professional photography in the 1970s and 1980s. The photos reveal the misery of council housing at the edge of the city, the rallying cries of squatters and demonstrators, the shops and flats of Turkish guest workers, performers in drag, and the music scene of the time.
The exhibition opens in Cologne on Sept. 15, 2016. For more information please visit artrmx.com
