  • If Captain Sparrow’s ship from the “Pirates of the Caribbean” is the first thing that comes to mind when you hear “the Pearl”, we’re sorry to disappoint you. No Johnny Depp here, just an energy efficient house that not only adjusts to the daily movement of the sun, but to its yearly course as well. You might think the bank of windows could lead to sauna-like temperatures in summer.

This is not the case though: The front of the structure offers large bay windows to take advantage of the sun’s heat in winter and is completely protected by the adapted roof during the dog days of summer, so the house’s interior stays naturally cool. It is not just energy efficient either; it’s also eco-friendly: The structure is made of natural and renewable materials: FSC certified wood, recycled steel, engineered compressed straw, cork beads, etc.
    And: It’s earthquake resistant!
