Playing in a winter wonderland

These beautiful pictures of playing squirrels were taken in a forest in the Russian Voronezh region. It's the region were Vadim Trunow, the photographer, grew up. For Vadim, a snowman is a symbol of winter: "By incorporating a snowman in a composition with animals, I decided to convey a winter mood in the photograph," he told us. "A year ago, I did a series of photos with a winter squirrel and a snowman, and many people liked it. This time I decided to pursue this idea." Squirrels are funny and curious animals and it didn't startle them that Vadim was only five meters away when he took the pictures. Through the photos, Vadim wants to show how similar squirrels can be to human beings - "and convey humor and creativity."
