Electrical pylons are usually not particularly attractive. From a purely aesthetic standpoint, they are more of a blot on the landscape and ruin the view.

The architects at Choi+Shine developed a truly unique solution for Iceland: The Land of the Giants. This design transforms mundane electrical pylons into statues that decorate the Icelandic landscape and involve only small alterations to existing pylon designs.
The design was created for the 2008 Icelandic High-Voltage Electrical Pylon International Design Competition.

The proposal has not (yet) been put into practice, unfortunately.

Landscape architects and anyone responsible for putting up electrical towers take note: Please check out these wonderful illustrations and do us and the landscape a favour: Build the Giants! Not just in Iceland, but everywhere currently occupied by the conventional monsters.
